Harmony Haven, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is not a United Way charity, receives no tax dollars or government assistance, maintains no contracts with city/county government
for animal control services, and is not affiliated with any national organization.
Our operation depends on fund-raisers, contributions, and memberships.

SUCCESS STORIES

Cricket is one of our "box kittens". She and many others were abandoned in cardboard boxes. Because there was no mother cat, we had to feed them a special kitten milk formula. Some were so small we used eyedroppers. Many survived - some did not. Cricket is a delightful tabby who is very friendly and rewarded us with lots of "purrs". Fortunately, Cricket has found a home. Many of her companions are waiting to also join a family.

HAPPY HEALTHY HOLIDAYS! ... a Message from Fido and Fluffy

**Turkey and chicken bones splinter - we shouldn't eat them.

**Just as for humans, too many treats are not good for us, and tell your guests that    feeding us is a no-no.

**If we see a lit candle unattended, we might bump it and start a fire or get burned.

**Mistletoe may get us a kiss and poinsettias/holly are pretty, but chewing them will    make us very ill.

**Please don't put ribbons on us, we feel silly, and may get choked.

**Hang those tree ornaments and decorations higher - they are way too tempting -    eating tinsel is very dangerous.

**Christmas lights could really light us up if we chew on them.

**Keep our water bowls full so we don't drink the yucky preservative water in the    tree stand.

**Pine needles really hurt when they stick in our paw pads.

**With guests visiting for the holidays, doors may be left open or ajar. We could run    out and get lost!

**Please keep us safe and have our tags on us.

**Remember the holidays are stressful for us too. We need a quiet place to relax    away from the celebrations.

PROJECT HOPE ADDRESSES COUNTY'S STRAY ANIMAL PROBLEM

During the past year, Project Hope has offered free spay/neuter surgeries for qualified pet owners. A photo ID or driver's license showing residency and a food stamp card or Medicaid card are the only requirements. As of the end of November 1760 animals have been spayed/neutered with 1123 of those being cats. The final sign-up for this year was December 13. For future sign-up dates, call 812-514-8520.

Although this program has been extremely successful this year, please understand we are just getting started. It is imperative that the program be maintained! Let us hope the city's mayoral support will continue. "A Level Above" requires a humane solution to the stray animal problem.

SUPPORT

The PETCO FOUNDATION has named Harmony Haven as a partner in the annual "Tree of Hope" Fundraiser to support community animal welfare organizations. Please stop by their beautiful store this holiday season. We have a display with pictures, brochures and business cards. We deeply appreciate PETCO's continuing support!

We have nearly 150 animal residents. So we are particularly grateful for the pet food donations from individuals and from businesses. Baesler's Market and the Wal-Mart stores have been very generous.

We continue our partnership with the Purina Very Best Pet Network through the Marshall and Terre Haute Wal-Marts.

GIFTS, DONATIONS AND SERVICE

We are so grateful to the people who support us through volunteering, gifts, donations, and memorials.  However, because many people are sensitive about having their names on the internet, we have chosen to include names only in the mailed copies of our newsletters.

The kindness and generosity of all who give to Harmony Haven makes lives better for the animals in our care.

Since we do not receive any tax dollars from the city or the county, donations (tax-deductible) are always most welcome!

HELP NEEDED

We continue to collect aluminum cans, ink cartridges (HP, Dell, Lexmark) and cell phones to recycle for fund raising.

Our wish list also includes CAT FOOD, SCOOPABLE LITTER, paper towels, Pine-Sol, bleach, laundry detergent, Febreze, peroxide, alcohol, mineral oil, baking soda, litter deodorant, and of course monetary donations.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Harmony Haven has had a good year. Our adoptions have increased, especially in the "small dog" category. We continue to have many beautiful cats and kittens waiting for good homes. And of course we have many friendly larger dogs. Our wish for the coming year is to find the right match for our many wonderful animals deserving of a good home.

ALL OF US AT HARMONY HAVEN WISH YOU
A JOYOUS HOLIDAY SEASON!
